Stan painted this cockerel for one of his teaching courses for artists, focusing on classical illustrative technique rather than his usual, more expressionist style of painting.

This image, together with a series of step-by-step photographic illustrations showing Stan himself creating it, can be seen in his book The Complete Watercolour Course, published by Collins & Brown, 1995 ISBN 1 85585 241 1 (pages 70-73).

Thousands have bought the book, but this is the original watercolour, signed by the artist.
